Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC), located in beautiful Charleston, SC, is a VECCS Level 1 certified facility, with our emergency center staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to support our community. Specialty services offered at CVRC include cardiology, internal medicine, neurology & neurosurgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation, and soft tissue & orthopedic surgery. Our hospital houses MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and digital radiography for advanced diagnostic imaging.
About the Role:
The Radiation Oncology Technician works closely with the Radiation Therapist and Radiation Oncologist to provide specialized, high-quality care to oncology patients undergoing radiation treatments. This role is highly technical and patient-focused, requiring strong anesthesia skills, advanced monitoring capabilities, and collaboration across multiple specialty teams.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Veterinary Technician who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care during complex procedures.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience (general practice, ECC, or specialty) LVT certification preferred
Strong anesthesia, airway management, and patient monitoring skills
Ability to perform IV catheter placement and manage complex or critical cases
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
Effective communication skills with doctors, clients, and team members
Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to high-quality patient care
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
Essential Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, medications, and monitoring tools for radiation treatments
Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and administer anesthesia following established protocols
Monitor and adjust anesthesia while tracking vital patient parameters during procedures
Provide post-anesthesia recovery care and monitor patients for complications
Position and prepare patients for radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging procedures
Maintain accurate anesthesia logs, medical records, and treatment documentation
Assist with radiographs, CT, and MRI positioning and image submission
Educate and communicate with clients regarding treatments, medications, and aftercare instructions
