We are seeking an Experienced Commercial Refrigeration Service / Start-Up Technician who excels at bringing systems online, validating performance, and ensuring installations are fully operational, reliable, and ready for long-term service.

This is a field-based, hands-on role for a detail-oriented refrigeration professional who enjoys working independently, troubleshooting complex systems, and owning the final phase of project delivery. You will play a critical role in powering up, testing, programming, commissioning, and validating commercial refrigeration systems prior to turnover to service and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Power up, commission, and support start-up of commercial refrigeration systems, including:
• Supermarket rack systems
• Walk-in coolers and freezers
• Reach-in and display cases
• Program setpoints and verify proper operation of major control systems, including:
• Emerson
• CPC
• Danfoss (and similar platforms)
• Perform pressure testing, leak detection, electrical verification, and refrigerant charge adjustments
• Diagnose and resolve start-up and service-related issues involving electrical, piping, mechanical, and control systems
• Verify systems meet manufacturer specifications, job requirements, and performance standards prior to turnover
• Document commissioning data, start-up conditions, deficiencies, and punch-list items
• Coordinate closely with installation crews, controls technicians, project managers, and service teams
• Support a smooth and professional handoff to ongoing service and maintenance operations

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration installation, service, or start-up/commissioning 
• Strong working knowledge of:
• Rack refrigeration systems
• Condensers, evaporators, and refrigeration controls
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, tune, and verify:
• Superheat and subcooling
• Airflow and system balance
• Refrigerant charge and system performance
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
• EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred; required)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel regionally to job sites as needed (per diem provided when applicable)
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and take ownership of system performance
