JOB TITLE:  Sr Manager of Manufacturing

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

This role will set strategic vision and drive systemic improvements related to efficiency, quality, safety, cost, and employee engagement.  As a Sr. Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for oversight of a highly technical operation - spanning multiple shifts.   You will also be responsible for the development of plans and implementation of strategies that support and achieve cross-functional alignment, team goals, and organizational objectives.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Lead a highly technical team:
  • Coach, teach, mentor, and ensure the development and effectiveness of a large multi-shift team consisting of supervisors, leads, and equipment operators. 
  • Lead, attend, and participate in performance metrics review meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong cross functional relationships to help drive business/operational results.
  • Receive escalations from night shift operations and assist the team in overcoming obstacles.
  • Escalate issues requiring additional resources to manufacturing leadership.
  • Proactively communicate relevant operational information with direct, cross-functional and plant leadership teams. 
  • Participate and promote subordinate participation on cross-functional and/or inter organizational teams.  Frequently lead such teams or task groups especially when the scope is broad and/or the issue complex.
• Drive operational and quality excellence:
  • Lead and champion the pursuit of operational excellence for a production team. 
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset and enthusiastic approach to problem solving.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and the CI team to develop and execute the plan to adopt lean tools, train employees, execute critical projects, and track the impact on operational performance. 
  • Have a firm understanding of all relevant sources of process data, monitor trends, develop/report critical metrics and use to identify and deliver annual process improvements.
  • Analyze changing business and customer needs constantly and plan organizational or systems changes to address those needs.  Recommend changes to other areas that will improve overall effectiveness of operations and/or quality group.
  • Work closely with senior level people within and outside of company to resolve highly complex, sensitive issues.
• Meet Cost Commitments:
  • Develop annual production budgets and be accountable for variances related absorption, direct labor efficiency, scrap, headcount, spend and cost savings initiatives that impact the factory P&L.
  • Align the production team around key plant metrics, ensuring ownership at all levels on the production floor. 
  • Have a firm understanding of costs and financial metrics associated with manufacturing operation and build a plan/strategy to improve performance against them. 
  • Ensure labor resources are aligned with the supply plan and customer demand daily and monthly. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to build and execute a strategy to continuously improve and monitor machine performance, and participate and/or lead the completion of critical cross functional projects.
  • Ensures operations schedules are met within budget through appropriate use of human and technology resources, scheduling and effective problem solving.
• Deliver High Quality Supply
  • Maintain GMP, GDP and quality standards.
  • Develop the plan to implement and sustain 6S within the plant.
  • Monitor key quality metrics and partner cross functionally to develop a strategy to reduce the frequency and impact of non-conforming product. 
  • Participate in non-conformance investigations and facilitate the implementation of corrective action plans where appropriate.
