Construction Manager – Building and Bridge Experience

We are actively looking for a Construction Manager to join our Fort Lauderdale office.  This role will lead various building, heavy civil, and transportation structural projects to support ongoing capital improvement programs. The right candidate will be responsible for not only overseeing construction administration services, oversight of projects from design through construction, and inspections.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Manages projects ranging in size from <$1M to >+$30M, actively communicate with the project team, and work to minimize project risks that may compromise safety, schedule, budget, or quality
• Proactively monitors contractor and field activities on a daily basis to identify and resolve issues in advance that could negatively impact the project
• Acts as the primary project interface with the client, project engineer, contractor, utility companies, and other agencies
• Leads and coordinates construction and field meetings with the contractor and client
• Coordinates with multiple departments and agencies to ensure smooth project progression with minimal impact to operations and other stakeholders
• Collaborates with engineers to discuss and resolve field construction issues and propose practical solutions
• Leads the project team in monitoring construction and contractor operations for conformance with the contract, safety, schedule, quality control, proactive change management, pay applications, closeout, and facilitate record drawings in accordance with construction documents.  Work together with our local document and project controls specialist to track and maintain project information
• Assist with management and technical review of submittals and RFI’s
• Provide support to the engineering team during contractor prequalification or bid efforts, including constructability reviews, pre-bid meetings, contract procurement, etc
• Schedules and coordinates project inspections

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering; required
• 15+ years of experience in a construction management role managing complex projects; required
• Experience in construction management of structural projects in south Florida including buildings and bridges; required 
• Strong writing & communication skills are necessary to effectively relay information and document project activities utilizing the appropriate medium
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products
• Currently maintain a valid driver’s license; required
• Experience with Bluebeam, Newforma or other project database software; preferred
• Experience working with government, ports, marine structural or heavy civil projects; preferred 
• Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC); if needed
• Availability and willingness to travel; preferred
• Bi-lingual / multi-lingual desired
