Deposit and Return Items Lead Specialist

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

The Returns team in Payment & Deposit Services is responsible for the daily processing of return items to KeyBank.  The majority of these are check items, but ACH, loans, and debit/credit card items are also included.  The Returns Lead Specialist is accountable for the timely and accurate processing of incoming items, exception items, and other items in daily Returns queues.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Process deposit exception items and incoming/outcoming returned items timely following documented team procedures
• Perform research on complex items using various bank systems to support external clients and internal teammates
• Provide phone support for internal teammate issues and queries
• Fully proficient in duties while working under moderate to limited supervision
• Escalate any issues identified to management as appropriate
• Accountable for regular reporting and analysis requests
• Occasionally cover late-shift and end-of-day activities when needed
• May train or assist in training new teammates

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Works well with others in a fully developed work team environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Proven excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Analytical, research and problem resolution skills
• Proficient in 10-Key, able to perform with a high degree of speed and accuracy
• Proven ability to handle all monetary/ processing functions independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Operations role
• Understanding of banking policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $21 to $24. per hour depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience.
