Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Grant & Project Accountant is responsible for the financial oversight and management of grants and capital projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies, also ensuring the proper allocation, tracking, and reporting of capital expenditures. This role involves tracking and managing the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and auditing. The Grant & Project Accountant will work closely with project managers, stakeholders, and external auditors to ensure the financial integrity of the projects and adherence to the grant terms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Grant Financial Management:
    • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring proper allocation of grant funds.
    • Monitor spending and ensure that costs are within approved budgets.
    • Ensure all expenditures comply with grant guidelines, restrictions, and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records for each grant, including expenses, payments, and invoices.
    • Prepare and submit timely financial reports to grant funders as required by the terms of the grant agreements.
  • Project Accounting:
    • Maintain detailed financial records for each project, tracking expenses, revenues, and progress against budget.
    • Perform cost tracking and analysis of projects to identify discrepancies and variances from the budget.
    • Assist project managers in interpreting project financials, identifying potential risks, and providing solutions.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for project-related activities.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to grants and projects.
    • Assist with audits of grant-funded programs and provide necessary documentation and support to auditors.
    • Ensure that all grant reports, including both financial and progress reports, are prepared in accordance with funder requirements.
    • Keep up to date with federal, state, and local regulations as they pertain to grant management and project accounting.
  • Financial Analysis and Forecasting:
    • Provide financial analysis and forecasts for ongoing and upcoming projects and grants.
    • Monitor and report on project and grant variances and recommend corrective actions.
