PAY
$63.87 - $97.63 Hourly
The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City’s step placement policy.

POSITION DESIGNATION
This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
JOB SUMMARY
This job is located in the Administration Division of the Public Transportation and Parking Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of the Public Transportation and Parking Director. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for overseeing transportation operations, including fixed-route service, bus rapid transit, streetcar, micro transit, mobility services, and paratransit. This role also oversees fleet maintenance, facilities management, contracted transit services, and all aspects of safety, security, and training.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Leading departmental coordination and oversight of transit system expansion and implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Assisting the Director in determining the long-range organizational, fiscal, and community impact of departmental goals, changes, and decisions.
- Representing the Director on various boards, committees, and at meetings.
- Researching, preparing, and presenting reports to the City Council and the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority Board of Trustees.
- Coordinating division activities with other City departments and tenants.
- Conducting public outreach and promoting community relations.
- Presenting written and verbal reports, analyses, and recommendations on a variety of matters.
- Analyzing and implementing departmental productivity improvement measures.
- Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets.
- Writing special reports and conducting complex research assignments.
- Maintaining a consistent and effective interface between the department, the broader City organization, and external agencies.
