We’re currently looking for a self-motivated individual seeking a challenging opportunity to test and validate the future of driving by joining our Autonomous Drive and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Test team in the Chassis Performance group at Nissan’s Arizona Test Center in Stanfield, AZ.

The AD/ADAS Test engineer will be responsible AD/ADAS performance testing, including vehicle, instrumentation, and test area preparation, proving ground and public road data collection, data analysis and reporting, CM development support, and NHTSA/IIHS protocol testing to confirm vehicle performance.  In addition, the engineer will support market and competitor studies, field validation, and special studies on new vehicle control technology.

Job functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Test planning and execution: Plan and execute tests according to Nissan and NHTSA/IIHS standards; schedule and organize tests to meet resource, equipment, manpower, facility, and program requirements; collect data or oversee data collection by other team members

  • Data analysis and reporting: Analyze in detail the time trace and video data using Vector, CANalyzer, Racelogic and other data acquisition/reduction software; summarize results in report format; present results to peers, management and program staff; follow-up on feedback

  • Issue resolution: Support countermeasure development for issues, using root cause analysis, special testing, and competitiveness studies to validate achievement; communicate changes and requirements with related Design departments (AD/ADAS, VDC, Steering, etc), negotiating where necessary when there are performance, cost, or timing tradeoffs.

  • Performance evaluation: Evaluate vehicle and system performances, both objectively and subjectively, in proving ground and public road scenes, including multiple vehicle tests, congested traffic and highway situations, etc. 

  • Equipment support: Research, identify, and update the most appropriate data collection hardware/software to support vehicle/system testing

  • Activity leadership/teamwork: Arrange and lead team activities ADAS in-vehicle testing at proving ground and public road scenes, including communication and reporting.  Work in a team setting with common goals and mutual respect/understanding.  Activities can include business travel between to specific test scenes, Design centers in Japan and Michigan, and suppliers (up to ~15% depending on program needs); cross training with other Chassis Performance functions will be expected

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year's vehicle dynamic performance development experience.

  • Must be self-motivated to learn, perform and grow in a dynamic team environment; must have good communication and interpersonal skill appropriate to cross-cultural/cross-functional work environment; must be willing to work overtime and be a team player

  • Use of the Microsoft Office suite required; experience with Vector CAN tools (CANape, CANalyzer etc), ABD equipment, Racelogic, LINK, LMS, DART, SOMAT/Catman, Dewesoft, and other vehicle performance data acquisition and analysis software preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive) required.  MS or MSE with focus in AD, ADAS or vehicle dynamics preferred

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and ADAS functions required; experience in vehicle dynamics and/or ADAS performance development preferred

  • Valid driver’s license required; advanced high performance driving training/experience preferred

Years of Experience:

Minimum 1 year's vehicle dynamic performance development experience.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive) required.  MS or MSE with focus in AD, ADAS or vehicle dynamics preferred
