Position Summary:
NYU School of Global Public Health seeks a full-time Project Coordinator for a multi-year NIH R01-funded study examining the impact of court fee elimination on criminal legal involvement and substance use outcomes. This innovative study leverages New Mexico's House Bill 139 as a natural experiment to understand how financial obligations related to criminal legal involvement affect health. The project is part of the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN).
The successful application will have prior experience managing NIH R01-level projects and join our team to focus primarily on the RELIEF Study but will also assist in coordination of PI Rouhani’s other funded projects.
Key Responsibilites:
Research Coordination & Management
- Coordinate communication and multi-site research activities across NYU, Rutgers, University of New Mexico, and partner organizations
- Manage data sharing agreements and IRB compliance across institutions
- Oversee qualitative interview recruitment and scheduling
- Support preparation of datasets for quasi-experimental analyses and policy evaluation
- Track progress towards key research milestones
- Support analysis and manuscript preparation
Stakeholder Engagement & JCOIN Network Collaboration
- Build relationships with key stakeholders on External Advisory Board and Community Advisory Board
- Coordinate with New Mexico criminal justice partners (courts, legislature, sentencing commission) on research and dissemination activities
- Facilitate quarterly stakeholder meetings and manage research team travel
- Participate in monthly JCOIN calls and coordinate with other research centers within the Network
- Collaborate with relevant JCOIN Centers as needed (Coordination and Translation Center, Methodology and Advanced Analytics Resource Center, Economic Research Resource Center, Community Engaged Research Resource Center)
- Ensure compliance with NIH reporting and data sharing requirements
Administrative Support
- Support PIs on IRB submissions, staff supervision and budgetary management
- Coordinate training for research staff and special projects
- Support development of dissemination events and tools (presentations, briefs, etc).
- Facilitating study team meetings, record and manage documentation of meetings, and produce and follow up on action items.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in public health or related field
- 3 years’ experience coordinating NIH R01-level or equivalent large-scale research project
- Experience with multi-site research coordination and stakeholder management
- Strong knowledge of research ethics, IRB processes, and data security
Preferred:
- Experience with legal research, policy analysis, or substance use research
- Knowledge of quasi-experimental study designs and causal inference methods
- Background in health equity research or criminal justice reform
- Federal grant management experience
- Proficiency with statistical software and qualitative data management tools
Essential Skills:
- Excellent project management, communication, adherence to deadlines and analytical skills
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders in criminal legal systems, community-based organizations, and advocacy
- Flexibility to travel to research sites as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to research integrity

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $55,000-$75,000.
