Job Summary
We are seeking a Physician Assistant Fellow for Duke Emergency Medicine located in Durham, NC. The Physician Assistant Fellow is involved in a 12-month intensive training program administered by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Physician Assistant Fellows are credentialed as full members of the medical team and are involved in all aspects of preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic patient care. The Fellow will attend lectures, seminars, and skills laboratories and participate in clinical, hands-on patient care with appropriate oversight by the supervising physician and staff advanced practice providers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- In collaboration with attending physician(s), provides direct clinical services for critically ill patients according to established protocols and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards.
- Performs triage, physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care of patients, and provides direct patient care services.
- Formulates and implements treatment plans for acute illness management in collaboration with the attending physician(s).
- Analyzes clinical practice patterns so to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
