About the role

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a Global Network Capacity Planner to join our Global Planning and Procurement organization, supporting Global Chemical Manufacturing.  The primary role of the Global Network Capacity Planner is to collaborate across the organization to develop supply and capacity plans for designated production facilities and production lines.

100% remote position + 10% travel.

What we’re looking for  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, or related field. MBA or related Master’s Degree desired.

  • Experience: Previous experience in Supply/Demand Planning – minimum 8 years’ experience.

  • APICS certification preferred.

  • ERP experience required.

  • Proficiency in using advanced Supply Chain Planning tools such as SAP; Data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI.

  • Problem solving techniques training, i.e., Lean, Six Sigma.

  • Ability to understand and complete projects and tasks as assigned; follow process & procedures.

  • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.

  • Ability to multi-task and follow directions accurately.

  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills.

  • High interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions and work independently.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Open minded collaborative and team oriented.

How you will thrive and create an impact  

  • Provide hazardous goods troubleshooting and support for the import/export, logistics & operations business teams across Americas region.

  • Actively manage the Sales and Operations Planning process to ensure a balance between customer service, manufacturing effectiveness, inventory investment, and shelf-life expiration avoidance.

  • Responsible for establishing a medium- to long-term view on unit capacity, raw material requirements, and finished goods inventory investments.

  • Responsible for understanding and communicating variances of inventory projection, as well as tracking and reporting production, supply, and fulfillment related issues and planning metrics as part other S&OP process.

  • Monthly analyze capacity utilization and provide information to support when needed for business case for capacity expansion.

  • Monitor demand and capacity for the purpose of generating a monthly plan that meets customer requirements and addresses any imbalances.

  • Work closely with finished goods planning and material planning team to ensure proper medium- to long-term coverage.

  • Works closely with Operations, Quality, Product Management, and Demand Planning teams to address constraints, or opportunities. Addresses collaboratively and escalates as appropriate.

  • Works with site planning and operations to change medium-term capacity plans to accommodate medium- to long-term changes in customer demand that differ from the IOP.

  • Identifies Supply Response imbalances and addresses appropriate response.

  • Anticipate potential issues by comparing demand with supply in the medium- to long-term.

  • Leverage new product introduction plans from research and development and/or new product innovation teams in developing quarterly capacity plans.

  • Use and maintain current capacity planning systems to create the best capacity plans using established processes.

  • Familiarity with the standard demand planning system features like best-fit/what-if analysis, class/characteristic identification.

  • Partners with Center of Excellence to establish best practices in master data management in SAP.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
