The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
This role provides strategic and tactical communications support to the Enterprise Supply Chain (ESC) Group President and leadership team, ensuring clear, consistent and aligned messaging for ESC employees and key external stakeholders. The role focuses on developing executive‑level content, supporting ESC’s transformation efforts and strengthening employee engagement across a diverse workforce. The position partners closely with the Communications organization to ensure messaging aligns with enterprise standards.
Responsibilities
- • Develop executive communications for the ESC Group President, including speeches, talking points, narratives and presentations for internal and external engagements.
- • Lead communication planning for ESC‑wide updates and transformation initiatives, ensuring messages are clear, actionable and tailored for diverse audiences, including production employees.
- • Design and manage effective communication cascades, partnering with HR, Operations and site leaders to support change adoption and frontline engagement.
- • Coordinate with the Communications organization to ensure alignment with enterprise standards, including media preparation and approved social media content related to ESC activities.
- • Monitor communication effectiveness, gather feedback and recommend improvements to enhance clarity, reach and impact across ESC.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
- Seven (7) years of Communications experience in a Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Corporate Strategy and/or Brand role within a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience in an executive communications role supporting C-suite executives with speech writing, presentation development and social media
- CEO executive communications experience
- Both breadth and depth in communications experience, including employee communications, executive communications, change management communications, and investor relations
- Project management experience
- An MBA or a high level of business acumen, with the ability to strategically align communications priorities to enterprise objectives
- Skills include:
- Exceptional writing skills, including message development, grammar, punctuation and working knowledge of AP Style
- Meticulous attention to detail
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex information into easily understandable language
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop creative solutions
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and perform in a fast-paced environment
- Strong executive presence and collaboration skills with the ability to interface directly with senior leaders and a variety of stakeholders
- Proficiency with PowerPoint and experience creating visually engaging presentations
- Expertise in other Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Teams
Work location:
This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
