Job Description
What You'll Do:
The Software Engineer’s primary purpose is to design, develop, modify, test and implement software programming for enhancements and new products while achieving high quality and on time delivery. This position is responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms and mechanisms. The Software Engineer works with general supervision on medium level projects with latitude for independent judgment.
Design and Development
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions on one more systems
- Perform maintenance and enhancements on existing software products via coding, testing, and debugging
- Analyze problems or software enhancements and provide suggestions for solutions to team
- Independently develops an understanding of potential problems with software
- Perform defect verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products
- Recognize areas for process enhancements and work with others to develop and document improvements
- Assist with the creation of project estimates and designs for customization requests and product improvements
- Participate in and assist in leading special projects as requested to gain additional product understanding
- Create, document, and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas
- Works with remote staff and offshore resources
Qualifications
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Related field or 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices
- Understand and have worked on complex products, solutions, and problems
- Ability to collaborate with cross functional team of business owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient to advanced ES6 JavaScript (vanilla JS)
- Proficient to advanced TypeScript and React
- Server-side JavaScript development using Node.js
- Familiarity with getting and posting to APIs via JS
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and browser differences
- Familiarity with Jest for unit testing
- Ability to do some browser based manual testing and code reviews
Preferred:
- Experience working with agile methodology
- Ability to perform duties independently with general supervision
- Working knowledge of systems and processes relevant to Software Engineering
- Experience working with remote peers
- Experience with Cypress and React Testing Library
- Willing to ask questions when stuck and be present in team chat
- Experience with Jenkins and Docker
