POSITION OVERVIEW

The lead steam turbine mechanic will be responsible for leading and troubleshooting all phases of inspection, disassembly, cleaning, dimensional inspection, reassembly, and testing of assigned work on various manufacturers' models of steam turbines within the KATS service center. Other mechanical work, such as centrifugal compressors, pumps, turbochargers, reciprocating engines and compressors will be assigned as needed.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure all work under your responsibility is done safely
• Responsible for the quality of the work that you and your teams are assigned, zero quality escapes
• Responsible for performing and helping others perform mechanical work in the service center processes
• Responsible for thorough documentation of, and helping others perform, as received, disassembly, assembly, and testing steps 
• Receive job assignments from the shop supervisor and manager
• Adherence to shop routers and processes is required
• Disassemble equipment, document, and file all necessary information
• Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices
• Responsible for troubleshooting during all processes
• Create parts lists
• Recommend repairs
• Responsible for completing all required inspection documentation
• Participate in the repair path and report development 
• Assemble and test equipment, record and file all necessary documentation
• Operate fork trucks, cranes, and other parts movement equipment
• Work from blueprints, manuals, other written and verbal guidelines as needed
• Must possess leadership and computer skills
• May be assigned
