Licensing Officer, Health Sciences

Department:

ERIK | Technology Commercialization

Licensing Officer (“LO”), Health Sciences is responsible for identifying technologies with commercial applications, evaluating the commercial potential of technologies, identifying potential licensees, preparing non-confidential technical information for marketing purposes, developing and implementing specific marking strategies for each technology, and drafting and negotiating small- to mid-sized license and option agreements. The LO is responsible for performing own negotiations related to the Intellectual Property (IP), as well as demonstrating valuation and PI knowledge. The LO may receive some mentorship and coaching from Senior Licensing Officers or other team members to help them advance their knowledge, mastery, and independence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or higher.
  • 4 years relevant working experience in Health Sciences field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Preliminary knowledge proficiency in health sciences licensing and intellectual property principles. Examples include licensing terms, targeted fundamentals of intellectual property, basic understanding of health sciences marketing methods, and intermediate negotiation knowledge and experience.
  • Active participant in deal teams with and without being a deal lead.
  • Able to provide recommendations and justifications on filing decisions with modest supervision.
  • Actively lead health science marketing campaigns with moderate supervision. Independently manages a small- to mid-sized IP portfolio.

  • Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • 4-8 years of relevant working experience.
