Associate Vice President (AVP) will guide the creation, implementation, and management of a solid organ transplant program. This position will provide clinical and administrative leadership to all the solid organ transplant programs, including financial and operational efficiencies, personnel management, and coordination of administrative matters, strategy, and marketing functions of the programs.

The AVP for the Transplant Program will be responsible for the development and implementation of the vision and the strategic plan of a high quality, cost-effective, and integrated programs. This position will also integrate with the organizational infrastructure to include systems and human resources, program and service development, facility resources, quality, utilization, fiscal, compliance and clinical management measures, marketing and public relations programs, managed care product development and relationships, outreach strategies, and internal communication.

The AVP for the Transplant Program is also responsible for continuing to identify and promote ways to improve the quality and efficiency of the ongoing operations. The selected individual will be responsible for the clinical operations and the quality of care provided by the transplant programs. He/she is charged with enhancing the value of all transplant services by increasing quality, constructing efficient care delivery models, and improving patient satisfaction. The selected candidate will achieve and sustain the highest quality outcomes for our patients and support in the provision of quality patient care, patient flow, and customer service.

The AVP for the Transplant Program reports to the CEO of West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc. (WVUH) and will establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Transplant Physician Director, transplant physicians, nursing, and administrative staff in order to ensure high quality, customer focused services. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that compliance is maintained with all relevant regulatory and oversight bodies to include The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS), and Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE). The successful candidate will be a healthcare professional with demonstrated skills and experience in leading and implementing a successful transplant service – preferably in an academic medical center environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's degree in hospital administration, healthcare administration, business administration, public health or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Significant leadership, mediation, political, and negotiation skills and abilities.

2. Demonstrated history of excelling in leadership positions with an emphasis on program growth.

3. Minimum of 5-10 years leadership experience in a transplant leadership role with expertise in the regulatory environment of transplantation.

4. Ability to develop and manage clinical operations, strategic planning, operational improvement, compliance, marketing, and community relations.

5. Experience in management of personnel, payroll, budgets, capital, business planning, marketing, physician relations, and management of supervisory positions.
