POSITION SUMMARY
Aleut is seeking a Space Operations and Integration Planner to support the United States Army National Guard’s Exercise Northern Strike – hosted by the Michigan National Guard. Northern Strike is a Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) accredited, Army Sponsored, National Guard Bureau program. The exercise is tailorable, scalable and a cost-effective readiness producer. Participants face cold-weather conditions while training to meet objectives of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) arctic strategy. Northern Strike fuses Michigan’s unique capabilities to maximize unit readiness through the National All-Domain Warfighting Center. The National All-Domain Warfighting Center spans Michigan’s Northern Lower Peninsula, encompassing the capabilities of the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center and Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, and their combined ranges and airspace. This system of training areas is the premier location to replicate the future operating environment, offering integrated training across all domains.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain the Space operational domain portion of the overall exercise execution matrix (EXMAT) at the direction of the Space operations Planning Lead. Developed space domain planning efforts will be utilized for current exercise planning and adjusted to be implemented in future winter Northern Strike and summer Northern Strike exercise executions.
- Participate in all Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events relevant to the Space operations exercise function. Coordinate and synchronize Space and adjacent domains and other unit training needs, capturing all approved training events on the Space EXMAT. Synchronize the Space operations EXMAT with the exercise EXMAT.
- Participate in all touch point, update and Northern Strike Planning Group internal meetings and coordination events.
- Provide all necessary support as required by the Space domain operations Planning Lead in scheduling efforts during foundation week prior to exercise execution. Planning efforts coincide with current fiscal year execution and subsequent future exercises to include winter Northern Strike and summer Northern Strike executions.
- Provide all necessary support as required by the Space operations lead planner when briefing Combined Arms Rehearsals, Rehearsal of Concept, and other coordination briefings prior to, and during execution.
- Provide expertise in space operational environment factors to include external factors of; symmetric threat and asymmetric threat conditions, environmental considerations, hostile and natural electromagnetic interference, and internal factors of; supported unit organization, direct support space capabilities, organic unit capabilities, space team knowledge and experience, and friendly and neutral electromagnetic interference.
- Provide planning support in integrating the Space domain operations into space capability awareness, spectrum awareness and analysis, specialized software integration, and overall space situational awareness with regards to the overall common operating picture.
- Incorporate space related products and services to include SATCOM, PNT, ISR, Missile Warning, mission management, and environmental monitoring capabilities synchronized with scenario development and adjacent warfighting functions.
- Develop/Incorporate Temporal and Spatial depend Design Reference Missions (DRMs) in support of exercise execution.
- Develop cost estimates for procuring openly available Commercial satellite products and services and coordinate budgeting needs with Space domain operations Planning Lead.
- Develop plans and procedures for utilization of Combined Coalition Space-based Assets for employment during exercise execution.
