Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, mission driven individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Child, Youth and Family Services (CYF). In collaboration with the Area CYF Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for area planning, administration, development, oversight and direct management of all DMH services provided in the Area for seriously emotionally disturbed children & adolescents, and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Responsible for Area CYF Services staff as well as all DMH contracted CYF Service Providers and programs in the Area.
- Responsible for the implementation of DMH- area and central office policies and procedures related to CYF Services.
- Oversees the Mental health Service Integration Specialist role within the Area
- Represents CYF Services to other agencies and organizations
- Interfaces with CBHI providers; networks with other agency personnel to create opportunities for collaboration
- Acts as a liaison to DMH Adult Services on behalf of DMH Transition Aged Youth
- Provides trainings to other State agencies, community agencies, city services, schools, courts, police, community groups, Intensive Care Coordinators and other CSA staff, and other local organizations, in regards to, minimally, access and application for DMH CYF Services; and chairs Area-based CYF related groups and committees.
- In collaboration with the CYF Area Director, the CYF AD oversees the Area CYF Services Budget; compiles and reviews data, and makes recommendations and decisions relative to budget plans; develops, in conjunction with Business Bureau staff, annual spending plans; monitors service utilization and spending rates of Area programs; reviews expenditure reports, reviews and approves provider invoices for services delivered.
- Provides operational oversight of all aspects of CYF case management services and clinical service authorization activity; oversight of personnel, supervision, and training; and other area policies/protocols including assessment & service planning regulations, eligibility and authorization processes, record keeping, client tracking & Medicaid billing
- Performs program utilization management and other quality management activities of Area programs; prioritizes and manages referrals to residential and intensive community-based programs; and oversees implementation and ongoing supervision of DMH’s Family Support activities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in the ability to collaborate effectively with community groups and organizations.
- Proficient with use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook and other PC based software.
- Ability to work effectively with linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple, deadline-driven projects with strong attention to detail.
- Independent Clinical License in Social Work (LICSW)
- MSW or Master’s or higher degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
