About the role

Shift: 7pm-7am

Hours: 36 hours per week

Every 3rd weekend and rotating holiday requirement

Part time availability may be considered

 

General Summary

Remotely monitors multiple patients across various health system locations using audiovisual surveillance systems. Ensures patient safety by observing and interacting with patients at risk for falls, behavioral issues, or medical conditions requiring attention. Provides continuous monitoring, escalates concerns to onsite clinical staff, and supports safety initiatives like fall and elopement prevention.

Essential Functions:

  • Patient Safety & Monitoring: • Virtually monitors multiple patients simultaneously to ensure safety, focusing on fall prevention, behavioral management, and critical medical conditions. • Responds promptly to patients' needs, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. • Observes patient activity, defuses situations, and reports concerns to nursing team.
  • Collaboration & Communication: • Obtains verbal reports from nurses about patient care needs to collaborate with the healthcare team. • Maintains clear communication with the nursing team regarding patient safety and behavioral concerns. • Documents patient activities and safety alerts in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Operational Support: • Supports caregivers to ensure smooth patient care flow. • Maintains situational awareness of all assigned patients and escalate safety risks or changes in condition to nursing staff. • Participates in de-escalation when necessary.
  • Compliance & Professionalism: • Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations. • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. • Participates in ongoing training and competency assessments.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • No prior experience Required

Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Virtual Observer Epic Training Upon Hire Required and
  • De-escalation training (4-hour virtual class) Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution skills
