The Crisis & Risk practice is one of the most respected and largest in the world, serving clients on complex crises and with 180 practitioners in more than 60 countries. The capabilities and diversity of talent have also grown to include former management consultants, digital leaders, sector experts, research, and analytics. The C&R practice globally advises leading businesses, governments and institutions, and their senior leaders on a broad range of crises including culture and conduct (e.g., D&I, societal issues), ethics and integrity (e.g., fraud, bribery, corruption), security risks (e.g., physical and data and security), product and service risks (e.g., safety, health) and financial (e.g., M&A and performance). Edelman has an exciting opportunity for an experienced crisis management practitioner. We are seeking an Executive Vice President to lead existing client work and pursue new business to help enhance and scale our crisis practice capability; and develop new crisis specialties, offerings, and capabilities to capture strategic growth opportunities. A proven expertise in advising senior client executives in a crisis and on complex issues, such as legal, cyber-security, compliance, and financial matters, as well as incident response, is preferable.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow existing business, focusing on crisis response and risk-mitigation work
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, in partnership with home office, region, and practice
- Partner with other practices and offices in both client service and new business
- Advance the practice and create new intellectual property for the firm
- Support practice reporting and training
- Provide strategic counsel, guidance, and leadership to staff, supervising staff members, and ensuring the team's success by managing work quality and productivity levels
- Maintain relationships with senior-level client contacts and internal contacts
- Mentor, coach, and support team members ensuring constant development of their skills
- Effectively manage staff utilization to meet profitability targets
- Manage business to maximize profit
- Lead teams, provide high-level counsel to clients; handle sensitive issues; negotiate and solve problems
- Develop and implement program strategies and ensure they are strategic and map to client objectives
- Ensure highest quality standards and practices are brought to all aspects of client work
- Ensure constant professional development of team, consistently holding self and staff accountable for behavior and performance
- Communicate a compelling and inspired vision of future possibilities and direction to team; create a climate that encourages entrepreneurial behavior, learning, and ethical conduct
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in crisis management and risk mitigation
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated track record in managing high-profile crises and complex, high-risk assignments
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, including an aptitude in triaging and prioritizing incoming assignments, managing competing deadlines, and a willingness to work demanding hours as needed
- Experience in working with legal teams, both in-house and outside counsel
- Experience in working with news media, notably business and financial media and/or investigative journalists
- Ability to work as a self-starter, requiring limited supervision
- Entrepreneurial spirit, can-do attitude, and ability to collaborate with colleagues across the network
- Poise and confidence to hold your own with senior executives and boards
- Attention to detail
- Strong leadership qualities including superb people management skills
- Be able to attract, motivate, empower, coach and retain staff
- Able to travel as needed
