About the role

At Allied Solutions, the role of a Senior Project Manager is to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple large-scale, complex technology projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's business objectives, technical requirements, and strategic goals. Senior Project Managers are responsible for resource allocation, timeline management, and risk mitigation, while adapting to the appropriate methodology—traditional, agile, or hybrid. Additionally, they must be an experienced professional who can operate with minimal supervision, demonstrating a high level of autonomy. They must tailor their leadership approach to the specific project type, maintaining structure and control in traditional projects, while ensuring flexibility and responsiveness in Agile projects within their defined constraints. Clear communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and technical teams are essential to ensure alignment and the successful delivery of project outcomes.

Planning and Managing Project Scope (30%)

Effective project planning and scope management are crucial responsibilities for a Senior Project Manager. In traditional projects, the Senior Project Manager must excel in creating comprehensive, detailed plans and ensuring strict adherence to a well-defined scope while managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Whereas Agile projects will require the Senior Project Manager to prioritize flexibility, adapt to evolving stakeholder needs, and make iterative adjustments throughout the project lifecycle. This involves managing continuous feedback loops, facilitating collaboration across cross-functional teams, and maintaining focus on delivering incremental value.

In both approaches, the Senior Project Manager must also focus on stakeholder communication, risk mitigation, and fostering a collaborative environment to ensure successful project delivery. 

General Project Duties:

  • Identify potential risks early and implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.

  • Lead collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to refine project scope and goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Manage larger, more complex, projects and programs that span multiple departments, involve greater ambiguity and hold higher strategic significance.  Projects often have multiple stakeholders across various business areas, suppliers. Projects have larger budgets & larger or multiple teams, with moderate to high project risks

Traditional Project Duties:

  • Oversee the creation of a high-level approach, breaking down large projects into manageable tasks and outlining dependencies, milestones, and resources.

  • Monitor progress continuously to ensure adherence to schedules and timely achievement of key milestones.

  • Maintain regular engagement with key stakeholders to align project goals with their expectations and handle escalations as needed.

  • Communicate the detailed project approach, scope, and timeline clearly to all stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability.

Agile Project Duties:

  • Develop an iterative roadmap outlining short and long-term goals, adjusting based on feedback and organizational changes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Oversee sprint planning, prioritizing user stories based on team capacity and business value.

  • Facilitate ongoing communication with sponsors to reflect their priorities in the backlog and adjust project scope as needed.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Strategic Alignment (20%)

Strong cross-functional leadership, strategic thinking, and expert project oversight are essential responsibilities for a Senior Project Manager. In traditional projects, a Senior Project Manager must be able to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, develop comprehensive project plans, strategically allocate resources (personnel, budgets, and technology), maintain clear communication with all stakeholders (executives, suppliers, and team members), and identify/mitigate/monitor potential risks. Whereas Agile projects will require a Senior Project Manager to organize and lead key Agile ceremonies, foster a culture of teamwork and open communication, maintain and prioritize the product backlog, and guide the team in adopting iterative development practices.

General Project Duties:
