Summary:
The Staff Accountant assists in the preparation of financial reports to provide the appropriate University personnel with the proper information. Maintain various accounting ledgers and records to ensure the University’s books are accurate. Review accounting transactions at the departmental level to make sure the accounting records are accurate and updated.
This position assists the University Accounting Manager and Senior Staff Accountants with handling the accounting procedures in a functional area (Treasury Operations and Financial Reports, Special Funds and Projects, or Grants and Contracts) by analyzing accounting transactions, maintaining subsidiary ledgers and preparing financial reports. This position works under moderate supervision.
Essential Functions:

Analyze accounting transactions for adherence with the established accounting procedures.
Prepare journal vouchers, invoices, or other types of accounting schedules in order to maintain accurate records and audit trail.
Work closely with the departmental budget and finance staffs to ensure the timely and accurate processing and reporting of financial transactions.
Responsible for the maintenance and control of accounting subsidiary ledgers.
Prepare accounting reconciliations between university and third party records and resolves discrepancies.
Review and edit proposed adjustments to financial records.
These functions are performed in order to make sure the University’s books are maintained accurately.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports in order to provide necessary information for appropriate personnel.
Prepare analyses of transactions for the annual audits to ensure accurate record keeping.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Full-Time.
35 per week.
Salary Range:
$29.09 - $37.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Less than 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Public accounting experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Ability to work independently.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
