The Correspondent Lending Account Manager is responsible for developing, onboarding, maintaining and expanding (as applicable) Webster Bank’s Correspondent Lending channel. This individual’s responsibilities will include assisting in the development of the Correspondent Lending strategy, identification and solicitation of new client relationships, as needed, maintaining existing partner relationships, actively participating in planning, revising and implementing delivery channel objectives and contributing to the success of the organization. This person will be the single point of contact for correspondent partners and provide coaching and direction as needed to maintain relationships throughout all levels of capacities. The channel’s strategy is to grow over time aligning with the bank’s balance sheet needs. The growth will be achieved through expanding the territory footprint and strategically adding key Correspondent partners. The position will also oversee the annual recertifications of all existing partners.
Key responsibilities for the role:
Act as liaison between all levels of Correspondent Management, Operations, Secondary, Closing and Sales teams and Webster Banks Operations, Secondary Marketing, Post Closing, Servicing and Executive Management. Offer assistance on individual loan submissions, rate negotiations, loan scenarios, product, procedures and LOS training and general procedural requirements which include collaborating with all internal departments that work with the correspondent channel.
Responsible for the onboarding of all new correspondent lenders and the annual recertification of all active partners, based on TPRM review cycle and as needed.
Train new and existing accounts on products, process and procedures, and Webster Bank policies in conjunction with the Correspondent Operations
Communicate with all levels of Correspondent departments, Management, Operations, Post Closing and Sales teams regarding performance, strategies and improvements
Make regular sales calls and participate in monthly meetings with Correspondent Key Contacts
Monitor production levels, quality of submissions, and regulatory compliance by account
Proactively develop new Correspondent relationships, as needed, and deliver exceptional, high level relationship management for Correspondents and prospects
Participate in internal and external audit process
Responsible for the identification and reporting of competitive intelligence, including but not limited to mortgage programs and products, rate competitiveness and service levels
Comply with applicable government regulations and cooperate in all aspects of internal quality control and compliance programs.
Develop and maintain a Correspondent Report Card per account to monitor performance
Recommend qualified correspondents for participation in the delegated program.
Recommend eligible correspondents for Webster Bank’s CRA products.
Industry networking with partners and vendors on a local, regional and national level.
Assume additional duties/projects as they arise.
Skills and experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Advanced degree – Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc. – preferred.
10 -15 years of related experience required
Mortgage Lending experience, underwriting knowledge, sales experience required
Third-party origination sales experience preferred
Excel, Word and Encompass knowledge preferred
The estimated salary range for this position is $146,000.00 to $155,000.00 USD annually. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
