ER Tech PRN - Emergency Room (28620)

Job Summary:

The Emergency Room Technician (ER Tech) supports the healthcare team by providing basic clinical care, patient monitoring, and administrative assistance in a fast-paced emergency room environment. The ER Tech plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, compassionate care for patients experiencing medical emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient triage and obtain vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, heart rate).

• Perform basic medical procedures including EKGs, phlebotomy, splinting, wound care, and CPR.

• Assist with patient transport, transfers, and ambulation.

• Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies.

• Support physicians and nurses during examinations, procedures, and treatments.

• Record patient data accurately in medical records or electronic health systems.

• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.

• Follow infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.

• Stock supplies and assist with inventory management in the ER.

• Provide emotional support to patients and families during stressful situations.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Completion of EMT, CNA, MA, or relevant healthcare training program preferred.

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or PALS preferred (may be required by employer).

• 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare or emergency setting preferred.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

• Shift-based work including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Physical demands include prolonged standing, lifting patients, and rapid movement.

• Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and emergency situations.
