Acutronic is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing of mission-critical aerospace hardware. Our ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Manufacturing Engineer II
Your Roles/Responsibilities:
- Develop manufacturing methods and processes, tooling details, and equipment specifications for current and new programs
- Develop engineering Bill of Materials and Routings with labor estimates
- Develop process flow and line balance by breaking down large, complex assemblies into sub-assemblies
- Lead investigation and cost analysis on robotic and automation process improvements
- Create and support of Manufacturing Readiness Review packages prior to first-part builds
- Develop manufacturing plans and detailed work instructions necessary for hardware fabrication
- Evaluate alternative processes that improve component properties, reduce costs, and increase efficiency
- Oversee and contribute to engineering build projects from start to finish, ensuring that the project is executed on-time
- Ensure manufacturing processes adhere to AS9100 standards
- Provide ongoing engineering assistance to the Operations department including troubleshooting of process operating problems, conducting special tests, developing reports, providing technical assistance, and aiding in design modifications
- Support Quality department in disposition of non-conforming product and RCCA actions
Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:
- Post-secondary degree, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and 2D engineering drawings with an in-depth knowledge of GD&T
- Skilled in interrogating 3D CAD models to extract all engineering requirements
- Experience with process development planning including understanding of all relevant engineering requirements, creating engineering bill of materials (BOMs), developing manufacturing process flows, identifying tooling solutions, and estimating labor hours through all phases of the manufacturing process
- Excellent written and communication skills with ability to create clear presentations and reports to communicate processes and project results with internal and external customers
- Ability to write clear and conforming work instructions
- Knowledge of standard aerospace industry specifications and practices
