Nanofabrication Teamleader

Alice&Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM. We are growing fast, securing 30 million USD of funding in 2022 to develop our unique technology.

Role:

As a Nanofabrication Teamleader you will lead our team, and ensure the development and fabrication of superconducting circuits chips, which are the foundation of our quantum processors.

The crux of building a Universal Quantum Computer is the quality of its individual components, the qubits. In this context, you will have to master advanced fabrication and characterization techniques to reach state-of-the-art performances. You will also work in close collaboration with our team of quantum physicists and microwave engineers to identify and pursue new development approaches.

Responsibilities :

• Management of the team, including:
  • Monthly 1o1 with members of the team
  • Monitoring training and progress of each member of the team & workload
  • Ensuring safety rules are known and applied
  • Scaling the team: hiring, onboarding ,training
• Ensuring a smooth running of our “nanofabrication process”

• Master the fabrication and characterization techniques of the 2D and 3D circuits,
• Schedule and organize the fabrication of samples defined in the NSI meeting, to deliver them on time (resources planning, contribution to problem solving),

• Coordinate fabrication and development tasks inside the nanofabrication team
• Ensure adapted documentation is in place (Standard operation procedures, process log, design rules…)
• Interface with our academic partners on nanofabrication, and suppliers

• Ensuring a long term roadmap on nanofabrication process development is in place, shared with the different stakeholders in Alice&Bob, specially targeted toward junction reproducibility, coherence time increase and 3D integration
• Contributing to the development of internal technological capabilities of Alice&Bob through:
  • New equipment acquisition
  • New infrastructure Development (clean room)

The job implies frequent trips to partner technology platforms (Saclay, Paris) and work in cleanroom.
