Position Summary

This position will provide accounting support to the operations of the business as well as financial management.  The successful candidate will be involved with projects within the financial management areas as well as providing financial support with the monthly and annual issuing of financial statements.  This person may assist with projects to further automate the costing systems, to provide data that will allow daily analysis of variances and eliminate the manual recording of costing entries at the month-end.


Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the Costing area of the accounting department with projects to improve systems and procedures.
  • Ensure consistent costing practices across all the Company’s manufacturing facilities.
  • Work with team members to develop new product costing in accordance with costing standards.
  • Review postings within the G/L for accurate accounts and costs at time of receipt.
  • Provides accounting support for review of product margins and costs for existing or new products.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts at month-end.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of work with additional attention on reducing and eliminating waste.
  • Participate in monthly G/L closing, preparing journal entries as required.
  • Participate in the annual Physical inventory or Cycle Counting process.
  • Assist with annual audit by external public accounting firm.
  • Assist with ad-hoc questions / projects as needed.

Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in with a major in accounting.
  • Pursuit of CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in public accounting or industry experience
  • Cost Accounting Experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate a focus on continuous improvement and process excellence.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Excel including Pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Knowledge of Oracle Hyperion Planning or another multi-dimensional database a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work well both independently and on a team.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to think and reason on your own.
  • Potential for travel to offsite locations driven by physical inventories or costing projects.
