The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and dedicated licensed Executive Nursing Director to lead the nursing department at the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Nursing Home a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that is home to those who serviced our country. Our skilled nursing facility boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture.

Paid vacation and sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays and a personal day. Tuition waiver available for State Universities and Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester).

Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program
The FDVA State Veterans’ Nursing Homes are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
- From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
- Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
- Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess valid licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and have excellent communication skills.
- Must have the ability to problem solve and prioritize.
- Must have above-average computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess a current CPR/BLS certification.
- Must be willing and able to communicate in English: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Understanding.
- Must be willing and able to work after hours and/or on weekends, for planned or emergency situations.
- Must have at least (4) four years of professional nursing experience, with at least one of those years working in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
- Must successfully complete the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background check and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Supervisory experience in a long-term care facility or skilled nursing facility.
- Knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations.
- Experience passing medication.
- Ability to create and update Electronic Medical Records.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of Nursing Services in accordance with accepted nursing practices and procedures. Provide quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with State/Federal regulatory guidelines.
