MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for the registration of all patients that are seen within Cancer Services. The registrar will be charged to obtain accurate patient information to include, but not limited too; medical records, accurate demographics, financial and insurance information, reviews and explanation of hospital consent forms and all required registration documents according to department scripting, in addition to securing patient signatures on forms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Some college and/or CHAA certified preferred.
- Hospital and Insurance registration experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- CHAA preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Computer proficiency required. Typing skills of 30-40 WPM required
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population while maintaining a professional attitude and providing great customer service.
- Ability to travel among hospital sites.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Base knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
