Job Description
Your Team
The Construction General Manager leads and manages multiple construction sites & site teams, ensuring that all neighborhoods consistently meet Brookfield standards for jobsite cleanliness, construction quality, and buyer experience. This role coordinates all site construction activities, working closely with internal and external resources. The Construction General Manager supervises field personnel—including staff and contractors—to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Responsibilities include upholding the highest standards of workmanship and enforcing robust construction safety practices across all on-site activities.
Your Key Deliverables
Leadership
Managing, coaching, and mentoring superintendents, assistant superintendents, and interns
Lead the construction team and create consistency in processes and standards.
Actively participate in Performance Development Plans for superintendents, assistant superintendents, and interns including conducting mid-year and annual reviews for each site team member
Proactively partner with Operations and HR to project staffing need
Review short- and long-term business plan and management goals with each site team.
Develop and implement operational strategies and improvement of processes with internal and external stakeholders
Review subcontractor evaluations and provide feedback to Purchasing and Operations
Ability to persuade and influence team members and external contactors to achieve goals within a given timeframe
Foster an open-door culture to promote team member engagement
Safety
Ensure that Brookfield’s safety program is followed at each neighborhood under construction and that each site team member has the proper training
Conduct Jobsite Conditions Walks to ensure safety policies and procedures are being followed.
Ensure that Weekly Site Assessments and Observations are completed in Cority.
Work with third party safety consultant and OSHA on safety, including certifications and educational programs.
Construction Management
Supervise construction activity for each home on a daily basis, ensuring all customizations or selected orders by the purchaser are complete.
Creation, maintenance, and execution of production schedules
Ensure that each superintendent is proficient and diligent in updating the scheduling software, PO approvals, and field work authorizations
Assist superintendents with contractor problem solving performance, quality, and adherence to Brookfield policies and expectations
Ensure jobsite cleanliness and maintain a positive neighborhood image
Review & Approve custom option requests / late change orders, and if the request can be completed in time for construction
Creation of RFI’s.
Ensure the specification and scope of work are followed as written in contract.
Review and accept the general conditions budget. Maintain the budget. Invoice approval, on a weekly basis, of work completed.
SWPPP and Maintenance of BMP’s
Perform “Meet The Builder”, “Frame Walks”, “Quality Control Inspection” and work with Customer Care on “Pre-Orientation Walks”
Lead the quality improvement discussion, working on continuous quality improvement.
Must Haves
Prior experience as an Area Manager / Senior Superintendent, 10 years
