Job Description
Power Conversion and Storage (PCS) provides innovative energy storage systems & hybrid solutions for various applications. It is a fast-paced business that includes design, engineering, services, and commercial organizations focused on deploying battery energy storage projects.
The Lead Controls Customer Systems Engineering is a critical position for PCS as we work internally with deal teams and externally with customers to provide optimized technical solutions to meet our global customer’s needs and requirements. This role serves as solutions architect for controls and software products required for solar, battery energy storage and hybrid power plants.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Technical lead for controls and software for PCS proposals.
- Review customer specification and standards (grid compliance, cybersecurity, etc) versus GE Vernova standard platform and clearly document clarifications and/or exceptions to customer specification.
- Align with product development team on feasibility of exceptions, including associated cost and cycle time to ensure alignment with execution priorities and backlog.
- Develop GE Vernova technical proposal to best suit the customer's use case and requirements for every proposal including controls and software scope of work, reference architecture, risk assessment matrix, features and accessories list, cost of materials, grid model development and customer project engineering work estimates.
- Facilitate development of dynamic models for grid system simulation studies by providing technical inputs on control system design and capabilities.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of the technical commercial documentation related to the product in coordination with the different stakeholders.
- Design and conduct technical sales trainings on new product introductions.
- Support Sales with delivering technical presentations to customers.
- Complete customer technical fill-in data and answer customer questions.
- Manage and negotiate commercial and contractual risks related to controls and software throughout the proposal life cycle.
- Report status and problems to deal team members in a timely fashion.
- Present technical proposal to GE leadership team detailing system performance capability and risks.
- After winning project, support a clean hand over of technical solution to the project execution team.
- Participate in the development of multi-generation product plans by summarizing and prioritizing emerging customer / market requirements and gathering competitive intelligence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a technical role
Desired Characteristics
- Ability to work individually and as part of a global team
- Strong knowledge of or familiarity with GE Vernova’s MarkVIe product family and of GE Vernova’s Cimplicity software (SCADA)
- Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design. Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA and Modbus, as well as standard messaging protocols such as MQTT.
- Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products
- Demonstrated expertise in solar and energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal methods, advanced controls or related technologies
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
- Strong leadership skills, strong organizational vision, customer-centricity, and the ability to build and energize high-performance teams
