We’re working onsite 4 days a week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.Medtronic Tempe Campus (MTC), is looking for a Test System Automation Software Engineer II to work in the Software Automation team to support Manufacturing Operations. An ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated individual with a thorough understanding of current manufacturing automation software, electrical test and visual inspection automation software and test data. The candidate must have strong problem solving and analytic skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication competencies.
Test and visual inspection automation provides technical ownership and leadership for test and traceability workflow applications at the Tempe campus. This role stabilizes critical manufacturing acceptance systems and leads the transition from legacy tools to next-generation, enterprise-aligned solutions.

Ensures stable ownership of critical software, reduces operational risk and downtime, and enables scalable, enterprise-aligned digital manufacturing solutions at the Tempe site.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as technical owner for software automaton supporting manufacturing acceptance test and visual inspection stations.
Provide expert-level support for production-critical issues.
Lead application enhancements, migrations, and modernization efforts driven by user needs, instrumentation and infrastructure changes.
Partner with business stakeholders to perform automation application updates, manage technical risk, and coordinate releases.
Establish and maintain required SDLC documentation, testing, and release.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant software engineering experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience in software engineering.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Proficiency in National Instruments Labview and TestStand is strongly preferred to be successful in this role.
Proficiency in automated test equipment integration.
Strong knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (requirements, design, testing, release).
Experience with multiple modern and legacy Windows Operating Systems
Proven ability to support production systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in equipment configuration management, source control, Digital IO, and automation of test instrumentation
Experience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated industries.
Experience modernizing legacy applications.
Familiarity with manufacturing traceability systems.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
