Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Physician Assistant Or Nurse Practitioner, Orthopedic Oncology Team
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive care of subspecialty Orthopedic Oncology team patients as well as trauma/fracture patients.
- Treating new and established patients, interpretation of diagnostic imaging, pre-op and post-op appointments, and coordination of care.
- Managing acute and chronic orthopedic conditions that span infant to young adult age groups.
- Will require some cross coverage at Dana Farber Cancer Institute
- Working four 10-hour shifts per week with built in administrative time- Clinic coverage would be primarily at Main Boston location, with potential travel to satellites
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree from a Physician Assistant program or a Master’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Previous experience as a PA/NP in pediatrics, orthopedics or oncology is preferred
- A strong desire to work in the pediatric orthopedic setting.
- Ability to work in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) and ambulatory staff is essential.
- Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific, or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
- Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or as a Physician Assistant
**Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for fulltime (40 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
