About Our Summer 2023 Internship Program

Our interns provide valuable support and fresh perspectives to our teams as we work toward setting a new direction in the fight against cancer.

This is a 10-week program, designed to provide impactful work and foster an environment for learning and professional development through mentorship and networking opportunities. Throughout the program, our interns will be empowered to drive key projects with real business outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional and personalized program, offering guidance and support from our Hiring Managers and assigned mentors.

Our program is intended to begin mid-June and end mid-late August. The working hours for this role are 9am-5pm Pacific Time, with some flexibility determined by the Hiring Manager and leadership team. This position is open to remote within the US or onsite at our headquarters in South San Francisco.

About this opportunity:

At Freenome, your work will lead to meaningful and significant scientific evidence which provides answers we need to support our mission of early detection and intervention in human disease. The Clinical Science Graduate Internship provides a hands-on opportunity for an up-and-coming scientist working on an advanced degree in a scientific or medical specialty to immerse themselves in clinical research and evidence strategy, in alignment with Freenome’s mission. 

The Clinical Science team drives scientific evidence development, gathering key insights from a variety of sources including clinical data and literature, and implements this in different cross-functional projects. The internship will have a strong data and writing emphasis, and additionally provide the intern with exposure to other clinical evidence-related cross-functional activities across different projects. 

What you’ll do:

The Graduate Intern will be assigned a project to own and drive for the duration of the internship, in addition to supporting multiple facets of the evidence strategy process. These other projects may include: 

  • Literature review, e.g. consolidation of similar study endpoints and results
  • Organization of clinical study data and summary
  • Support development of evidence strategy process documents
  • Support exploratory data analysis
  • Support medical writing projects 

Must haves:

This internship is an opportunity for a proactive individual looking for a productive and meaningful learning experience on a fast-paced and closely collaborative team. Applicants should:

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in a Life Sciences or Medical field
    • Or alternatively, within one year post graduation
  • Strong experience in the scientific or medical space with preference in oncology
  • Basic understanding of clinical research or medical practice, health data, and medical literature
  • Familiarity with guidelines and regulatory environments
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
