This role has a high level of exposure across lines of business, and we are looking for someone who is collaborative and an excellent communicator. We are seeking a leader who can think critically, act quickly, and has organizational agility to adapt.

Responsibilities:

The TCDR team supporting the Bank Tech & Cyber Risk mission is a passionate and dynamic group of risk professionals focused on enhancing the risk profile of our Retail Bank business through risk analysis, risk identification, management and mitigation. We are seeking an inquisitive and organized team player to join us as a Risk Manager.  This associate will have the unique opportunities to become a subject matter expert and trusted advisor within the Bank Tech & Cyber Risk team.

As a  Risk Manager, you will:

  • Engage with key stakeholders across Retail Bank, including Enterprise Risk, Cyber, and Audit, while performing end-to-end risk management, from defining policies and procedures, performing analysis, tracking remediation activities, to closing risk findings.

  • Support our team’s strategic mission and execution of risk management, utilizing risk reporting and metrics to tell impactful stories to key stakeholders and leadership

  • Drive effective collaboration with business and tech stakeholders and Risk Office partners to ensure management and remediation of risks while meeting the 2nd line compliance requirements for the well managed agenda

  • Advise our tech and business partners on how to effectively document, mitigate and remediate risks while managing regulatory and internal policy requirements

  • Utilize strong project management and communication skills to drive projects based on defined priorities and ensure deliverables and timelines

  • Review, analyze, develop, and/or execute processes for various functions across the risk office and business areas

  • Have a successful track record of thriving in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholder groups, including executive leadership

  • Apply sound inquiry and critical analysis to make provide risk advisory recommendations and decisions

  • Be intellectually curious to question the status quo, explore options, and develop alternative solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 3 years of Financial Services, Audit, Project Management or Risk Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients 

  • At least 2 years of experience delivering executive level communications and presentations 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3+ years of people management experience

  • 7+ years of Financial Services, Process Management, Project Management, Audit, or Risk Management Experience

  • 2+ years of Experience with the Agile methodology

  • 3+ years of experience with Google Suite

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk Manager
