About the role

Provides athletic training services in the interscholastic, intercollegiate, elite amateur, professional and recreational setting including event coverage. Participates in outreach activities as a representative of Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Delivers treatment to patients under the supervision of the physician in accordance with quality standards of the department. Assists in duties in physician clinic as directed by provider. Functions independently in the clinical setting in the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine practice areas, and participates in other Mayo outreach activities, as directed. Provides one-on-one clinic care as needed, under the supervision of a physician, and in accordance with the quality standards of the department including (taking a history, performing an initial evaluation, proxy orders, fitting of braces and splints per protocols, providing therapy per protocols and assisting with outpatient procedures such as injections). Individuals must have the knowledge base to be able to evaluate and report findings to the physician. Delivers treatment and care to patients under the supervision of the physician in accordance with quality standards of the department. Further the role of the clinical athletic trainer in the Sports Medicine practice by continuing to improve the efficiency of the physicians they are working with. The individual must be able to be involved with the formation of new programs and materials focused on wellness, injury prevention, and fitness for physically active patients as time allows.

A Bachelor's degree in athletic training or a related medical field and certification by the Board of Certification and National Athletic Trainer's Association is required. Must be eligible for state registration or licensure. CPR certification is required. Must be able to demonstrate clinical proficiency with good manual dexterity in order to manipulate treatment equipment. Must have strong communication and human relation skills to interact with clinicians, administrators, students, coaches, parents, etc. Require at least two years experience working as a clinical athletic trainer in a clinical setting with patients in a one-on-one situation. Master’s degree preferred. Certified strength and conditioning specialist preferred. Prefer 2 years minimum experience in clinical athletic training related position working with patients in a one-on-one situation. Prefer experience with clinical procedures such as injections, removing sutures, and dressing changes. Also has experience with working with a variety of ages of patients in a one-on-one setting. Certification by the BOC (Board of Certification - ATC), Possession of or eligible Licensure in the state of Florida
