GSE China team plans to adopt a new technology to provide immersive user experience to our customer and merchant worldwide. We are looking for enthusiastic technologist to design, build and maintain a critical platform to enable this experience.

Your way to impact 

As part of PayPal’s technology team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing web applications to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. The role spans from lead architecture design to mentor and coach junior engineers, working closely with cross-functional and cross-geographic teams to drive technical innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design/solution discussions with local and global stakeholders on web applications.
• Design and develop critical web-based systems (both internal & client-facing), including building and maintain reusable frameworks.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, own code quality, conduct code reviews.
• Closely working with Product Owner, UED designer, end users and framework users to provide the best solution possible.
• Drive engineering excellency through CI/CD/automation.
• Collaborate with cross functional engineering teams globally to drive and align on solution design/implementation

What do you need to bring:

• Minimum of 8+ years' experience in developing web application.
• Owned/acting as tech lead for component/services/domains.
• Proficient in HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript.
• Good programming capabilities in at least one of React/Vue/Angular framework.
• Familiarity with backend and database technology, including Node, Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL Databases.
• Ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment.
• Superb communication skills; ability to comfortably interact with tech and non-tech colleagues
• Experience to interact with engineering teams from multiple geo-locations.

Desirable Skills:

• Hybrid/mobile experience will be a big plus.
• Front end Architecture/Performance Tuning/Safety Optimization will be a big plus.
