United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Patient Transport Aide to safely and efficiently move patients between hospital departments, treatment areas, and discharge points. In this hands-on role, you'll assist with patient positioning, handle transport equipment, and respond calmly and professionally to patients’ physical and emotional needs during transit.
As a key part of the care team, you’ll help ensure that each patient feels seen, supported, and secure. Every interaction matters—from offering a reassuring word to navigating the hospital with care and precision. Your attentiveness and compassion help make every connection count.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist patients with safe physical transfers into and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds, using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
- Transport patients between nursing units and ancillary departments using stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds, while ensuring the secure handling of IVs, oxygen tanks, and other medical equipment
- Escort and appropriately manage the transportation and documentation of deceased individuals to and from the morgue, following hospital policies and sensitivity guidelines
- Pick up, sort, and deliver medical supplies, equipment, records, linens, and mail to designated areas throughout the facility as assigned
- Exchange and handle the transport of Nitrous Oxide tanks in compliance with safety regulations and protocols
- Return clean and soiled medical equipment and linens to designated central supply or processing areas to support infection control and resource availability
- Clean and maintain transport and support equipment, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and orthopedic frames, ensuring items are sanitized and functional
- Construct and dismantle orthopedic traction systems such as Stryker frames, ensuring proper assembly and adherence to patient care specifications
- Assist with duties across various Support Services areas including driving, dispatching, and mailroom support when needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in equipment storage rooms and service areas, including the upkeep of postage machines and other facility tools
- Use electronic devices (such as iPods or mobile computers) to receive assignments, track transport activities, and communicate effectively with dispatch
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff to support the overall operation and patient care needs of the facility
Position Qualifications
Minimum Required:

Preferred:
- High School Diploma or equivalent or IEP diploma
- Previous hospital experience as aide/orderly, transportation aide or related position.
Minimum Required:
- CPR certification within three months of hire
Preferred:
- Current, un-restricted Driver’s License
