As the Director of Tax Accounting with Diebold Nixdorf, Incorporated, you will play a critical role in leading the Company’s tax accounting process, ensuring accurate tax accounting and financial reporting, and driving the implementation of tax accounting solutions. The role requires both a deep understanding of tax accounting principles and strong knowledge of tax accounting related technology. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of guiding and influencing a team and collaborating with various departments to optimize tax processes and systems.  The successful candidate will also recruit, train, motivate, retain and provide leadership to other members of the Company’s global tax team. 

 

Essential functions of this position include:

  • Lead the global tax accounting process, including the review of tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and tax-related financial statement disclosures.
  • Oversee the tax function’s outsourcing service provider with respect to global tax accounting services.
  • Collaborate with external service providers and internal tax team to project global estimated annual effective tax rate.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of tax accounting processes and solutions, ensuring they comply with applicable accounting standards, meet the needs of the tax department, and align with overall company objectives.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and consultants on tax-related matters, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audits and reviews.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the global tax team, including regional tax teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative team development.
  • Drive process improvements in tax accounting, reporting, and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on tax accounting, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Participate in due diligence and structuring on M&A activity and lead and/or participate in other special projects as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA and/or JD preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years tax experience with a track record of increasing responsibility for sophisticated tax matters
  • Strong tax accounting experience under ASC 740
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general understanding of IFRS/local statutory accounting as it relates to tax accounting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset
  • Strong communication skills, including an ability to articulate technical tax concepts to non-tax colleagues
  • Experience working in a large, complex organization with a global presence is preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize under pressure and within timeline constraints
  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team

Salary Range: $185,000 to $205,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including your qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, internal equity, and relevant experience. You may also be eligible to participate in a long-term incentive plan and a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the plan and/or program, whereby an award, if any, may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance
