Department Overview:

The Corporate Sustainability team works to integrate PG&E’s sustainability commitment into the company’s business strategy across the “triple bottom line” of serving people, the planet, and California’s prosperity. With the support of PG&E’s Chief Sustainability Officer, the team works collaboratively to implement PG&E’s climate goals with a focus on better serving vulnerable communities throughout the energy transition; tell our story by measuring and communicating PG&E’s sustainability performance; identify, benchmark, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement within our business; and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including environmental and social justice and Native American Tribal communities, to guide and strengthen PG&E’s sustainability strategy.

 

Position Summary:

This position will support PG&E’s active, ongoing efforts to operationalize our Environmental and Social Justice Policy as part of a broader companywide effort to better address the needs of vulnerable communities. A key area of focus will be coordinating the development and implementation of community benefits plans associated with PG&E projects involving non-traditional funding sources. It will also include assisting with internal training development and pursuing strategic partnerships through relationships with community organizations and other external stakeholders, including Native American Tribal communities.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of sustainability and environmental and social justice issues related to the utility sector. The individual will possess strong relationships with community organizations and environmental and social justice stakeholders, along with exceptional research, organizational, and strategic planning skills. The individual will also demonstrate outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences and constituencies. The individual will also be able to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

 Bay Area Minimum: $ 93,000

Bay Area Maximum: $139,000

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and based on business needs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively support PG&E’s environmental and social justice strategy, working in coordination with a broader companywide effort to better address the needs of vulnerable communities.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of community benefits plans associated with PG&E projects involving non-traditional funding sources, such as federal funding. 
  • Support engagement and pursue strategic partnerships with environmental and social justice stakeholders, including both communities and agencies.
  • Assist with internal capacity building efforts on environmental and social justice, including developing and implementing training.
  • Provide consultation to support the company’s regulatory engagement on programs related to vulnerable communities, including programs such as the AB 617 Community Air Protection Program.
  • Support PG&E’s wildfire safety and emergency management-related engagement with Native American Tribal communities.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of relevant work experience involving environmental and social justice issues

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

Prior utility industry experience
