JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary
The Analyst’s primary function is to perform analytical work in support of commercial and operational performance and goals. This includes, developing, presenting, and maintaining operational, optimization and financial models; performing work related to nomination, confirmation, scheduling and booking activities; assisting in the preparation, analysis, interpretation and communication of information from complex contracts; and other ad-hoc assignments as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with crude oil schedulers, representatives, operators, accountants, engineers and other employees to accomplish business objectives
  • Become a subject matter expert on various business systems, data flows and external resources to effectively collect and analyze information on a routine or ad-hoc basis
  • Perform complex analysis of information to identify trends or variances, develop reports, make recommendations to management, forecast future results and provide instruction to other stakeholders based on the analysis performed
    • Economic and financial analysis of current business and potential investments to assess profitability, returns and other economic measures
    • Review of operational information such as volumes, measurement and quality data and inventories to assess utilization, performance, risks and opportunities
    • Review various types of documents and develop summaries, insights, determinations and recommendations
  • Perform commercial operations tasks (including Scheduling and Quality Control) as needed in support of current role or to provide coverage

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business administration, accounting or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related knowledge or experience

Work Experience

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software
  • Experience interacting, advising, negotiating, and communicating effectively

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: energy industry economics
  • Knowledge of: financial risk management
  • Knowledge of: commodity marketing
  • Knowledge of: contract administration/analyses
  • Ability to: analyze and resolve issues and/or questions concerning scheduling, nominations, balancing and allocations
  • Ability to: develop and maintain data related to financial forecasts, models and statistics
  • Ability to: work with contracts and lease agreements, property/land records, legal descriptions, real estate definitions, industry and governmental regulations and plats
  • Ability to: apply basic math, algebra and statistics
  • Ability to: read and interpret applicable contracts, agreements, reports, statements, invoices, confirmations, correspondence, tariffs, government regulations, industry standards, financial data, electronic bulletin board communications and company policies and procedures
  • Ability to: communicate and/or exchange information or instruction
