We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Group Manager, Upstream Marketing to lead portfolio strategy and product innovation for our Core Surgical Innovations portfolio. This role is responsible for driving market insights, developing new product concepts, and guiding cross-functional teams from ideation through commercialization to ensure Medtronic remains at the forefront of medical technology.

This position is based onsite in Lafayette, CO, North Haven, CT or Trevoux, France. 

A Day in The Life

  • Lead upstream marketing activities including market research, customer segmentation, and unmet need identification.
  • Develop and communicate portfolio strategy, long-range planning, and product roadmaps.
  • Build and validate business cases for new product opportunities, including market sizing, financial modeling, and competitive analysis.
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and downstream marketing to integrate customer insights into product development.
  • Manage and mentor a team of upstream marketing professionals; foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Present portfolio strategies and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with global and regional marketing teams for successful product launches and lifecycle management.
  • Global travel approximately 30%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, product management, or strategy or 5 years of experience in marketing, product management, or strategy with an advanced degree
  • 5+ years of managerial experience that includes direct people management and cross functional project management
  • Must have upstream marketing experience including product strategy and portfolio management

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or similar, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, product management, or strategy, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (medical device, pharma, etc.).
  • Track record of bringing new products from concept to market.
  • Global market experience
