Job Description

Position: Nuclear Services Engineering Leader

Overview: As a member of the Steam Power Services Inquiry to Remittance (ITR) leadership team within Gas Power Engineering, the Nuclear Services Engineering Leader is responsible for rotating equipment engineering services for the Nuclear Services Business Segment of Steam Power Services. These engineering services encompass a broad range, from spare parts identification through to upgrades of steam turbine generators (STG), accessories and controls, aimed at facilitating extended power uprates for nuclear power plants as our customers seek to extend operational life to 60-80 years.

Key Responsibilities cover both operation and transformation of STG engineering for n:

  • Define engineering priorities to support our Nuclear customers and facilitate success in the Nuclear market for our Steam Power Services Nuclear Business.
  • Collaborate across Steam Power Services ITR Engineering and other Gas Power Engineering Centers of Excellence to achieve these priorities.
  • Implement lean methodologies to ensure robust daily management, performance measurement, and continuous improvement, centred on Safety, Quality, Deliver & Cost in that order.
  • Drive operational excellence and lead transformational initiatives in Engineering to grow customer value and reduce lead times for nuclear engineering services
  • Drive productivity to facilitate execution of the surge in nuclear upgrade orders

Reporting Structure: This position reports to both the Steam Power Services ITR Engineering Leader and the Nuclear Business Segment Leader, ensuring alignment of Engineering efforts with business and customer needs. As an individual contributor, you will exercise horizontal leadership to mobilise the matrixed engineering team on this mission.

Team Responsibilities: Your indirect team will handle Inquiry to Order (ITO) & Order to Remittance (OTR) engineering services across core services and upgrades for steam turbines, generators, excitation systems, controls, and accessories.

Success Metrics: Success will be evaluated based on customer satisfaction and business performance, with a focus on delivering engineering services that are safe, compliant, right first time, on time, and under budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Nuclear Services Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Development and delivery of engineering priorities to support our nuclear customers and Nuclear Business Segment
  • Horizontal leadership across Steam Power Services ITR Engineering and other Gas Power Engineering Centers of Excellence to deliver.
  • Implementation of lean methodologies and standards: daily management, performance measurement, monthly operating review, and continuous improvement, centred on Safety, Quality, Deliver & Cost in that order.
  • Drive operational excellence and lead transformational initiatives in Engineering to grow customer value, including reduction of lead times for nuclear engineering services
  • Develop and lead productivity action plans to facilitate execution of the surge in nuclear upgrade orders
  • Developing strategic engineering relationships with our customers, in concert with the Nuclear Segment business line
  • Maintaining the strong reliability record of our Steam Turbine Generator nuclear

Minimum Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics (equivalent or higher)
  • Minimum five years relevant engineering / technical leadership experience
  • Technical knowledge of steam turbine generators and their operation
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plants and nuclear industry standards
  • Customer facing experience
  • Strategic thinker and lean practitioner
