School Services Associate

Position Summary:

Schmitt Music is seeking a seasonal, part-time School Services Associate to assist in a variety of roles to support new Music Makers! The purpose of this job is to provide support in a several areas, including retail sales, instrument preparation, warehouse, and display events. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Assist new band and orchestra students in selecting instruments.
• Complete Better Than Rent contracts at various Schmitt Music locations.
• Use the point-of-sale system for sales, inventory, and updating customer records.
• Help customers, restock showroom, and receive inventory.
• Ability to work retail hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Attend and complete training sessions.
• Assist in receiving of all shipments, MI-accessories, and Band & Orchestra,  Putting stock away in warehouse and the accessory warehouse cage.
• Assist in packing and making ready of merchandise to be shipped or delivered.

• Knowledge of musical instruments.

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Background check required.
• Knowledge of basic warehouse functions
• Good work ethic

Work Environment:

• Retail and warehouse working conditions.
• Occasional school settings.

Physical Demands:

• Use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Frequently stand, walk, and sit.
• Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May lift up to 50 pounds.
• May occasionally climb a ladder, bend over, and kneel to put stock away and move merchandise
• Superior customer service skills
• The willingness to follow directions and be a team player
