Within EY-Parthenon's Strategy and Execution sub service line, our Software Strategy Group provides top-tier investment and acquisition guidance, strategy, value creation, and transaction advisory for the software sector. Every year we help hundreds of software companies and investors make crucial business decisions. On every engagement, you will work alongside our team of former CTOs and CEOs with deep software expertise to learn from the best.

 

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Associate-Consultant with EY-Parthenon's Strategy and Execution Software Strategy Group, you will be responsible for leading workstreams and engagements, directly translating client needs into project tasks and deliverables.  You will manage problem-solving and be the power behind the team’s analytical activities, serving as the key liaison between the engagement team, senior leaders, and our clients. 

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Develop business strategies using tools such as financial analysis, customer research, forecasting, and portfolio optimization.
  • Analyze transaction rationale and prospective deal documents to identify critical business issues and risks relating to a proposed transaction.
  • Identify value creation opportunities both top-line and bottom-line across the various functions of a software economy organization.
  • Manage workstreams and break down complex problems into manageable tasks for the team to contribute to solving together as a group.
  • Motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Develop, manage, and mentor junior team members.

 

Software Strategy Group focus

Our team is unique in its leadership position in the market.  We are the most scaled team serving large-cap private equity from diligence through value creations in all areas from commercial, product, technology, growth strategy, and value creation.   We do that through our broad and deep training program, strong culture, and commitment to teamwork and continuous learning at all levels of the organization.

 

While we look for people who can excel in more than one category, most professionals will develop a “major” where they will spend approximately 75% of their time, and a “minor” where they will spend about 25% of their time.

 

Members of our team focus on one or more tracks:

 

  1. Commercial Diligence/Strategy: Assessment of markets, industries, and companies from a market perspective.
  2. Product/Technology: Assessment and strategy related to products and technology of an industry or company.
  3. Value Creation: Assessment and strategy related to value creation opportunities – both top line (sales and marketing) and bottom line (operations, R&D, COGS, etc.).

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Outstanding academic performance, with a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 18 months of related work experience. 
  • Ability to make detailed assessments of industry, products, markets, competitors and customers to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Proficient in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively,
