Role Summary MetaPhase is seeking a Senior Database Developer with 7+ years of experience to provide hands-on technical expertise with data architecture, data modeling, and data engineering tasks in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. The Senior Database Developer will lead database development work and help to coordinate tasks with the web developers to ensure a robust, integrated, data-driven solution is built.What You Will Be Doing 
  • Enhance/build/propose new analytical capabilities, such as migrating from SSRS to a more robust, cloud-based reporting platform (e.g., PowerBI)
  • Troubleshoot and report on data issues to identify root causes, propose recommendations, and implement solutions that will improve data availability, increase data quality, and optimize performance.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for code deployments for scheduled releases and provide feedback.
  • Define and implement methods for database standards across multiple databases in the client's environment.
  • Increase the use of automation and scripting for testing code changes.
  • Design and develop scripts that create/modify database objects (tables, views, constraints, triggers) and data integration routines (ETL) that support change data capture, reporting and application enhancements.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance technical documentation relating to data architecture; ERDs, data dictionaries, standards, procedures, and workflows to sustain existing operations while building new analytical capabilities.
What We Need From You 
  • US Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS).
  • A minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience with database architecture, design, development, deployment, and administration in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • Data modeling experience with both transactional and analytical data stores.
  • Data integration experience with Python, PowerShell and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), from design to implementation.
  • Report design, development, and deployment experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Expert in performance-tuning databases, SQL scripts, and clean coding techniques.
  • Must have active Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

 

Bonus Points 
  • Experience in a federal government IT environment.
  • Data architecture experience on an enterprise scale, integrating multiple systems with different methods to accommodate various data structures and access protocols.
  • Azure cloud experience for SQL Server and various reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated use of DevSecOps.
  • Master’s degree in data analytics engineering, computer science, or related technical major.
  • Active certification with DAMA’s Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
