We are seeking a Part-Time Cardiologist (Independent Contractor – 1099) to join our team one day per week to provide on-site physician supervision and interpretation of non-invasive cardiovascular testing.

This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified Cardiologist looking for a flexible schedule while practicing in a high-quality outpatient imaging setting.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Cardiologist is responsible for performing, supervising, and interpreting non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic studies, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms, and nuclear stress tests. The position supports the delivery of high-quality cardiovascular imaging services by ensuring accurate diagnostic interpretation, adherence to clinical standards, and collaboration with physicians, technologists, and clinical staff to provide safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.


Schedule: Part-Time, 1 day per week (on-site)

Classification: Independent Contractor (1099)

Compensation: $20.00–$250.00 per study, depending on the type and complexity of the examination. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, credentials, and scope of services and is paid on a per-study (per-click) basis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform, supervise, and interpret transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms (exercise and pharmacologic), and nuclear cardiology studies.
  2. Review physician orders, patient medical history, and clinical indications to determine the appropriateness of cardiovascular diagnostic testing.
  3. Interpret cardiovascular imaging studies and prepare accurate, timely reports for referring healthcare providers using the facility's electronic medical record (EMR) and cardiovascular reporting systems.
  4. Provide physician supervision of exercise and pharmacologic stress testing in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, facility policies, and accepted standards of medical practice.
  5. Evaluate patients before testing to identify contraindications and ensure appropriate patient selection and preparation.
  6. Respond to and manage medical emergencies or adverse reactions that may occur during stress testing or imaging procedures, following current ACLS protocols.
  7. Collaborate with cardiac sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists, nursing personnel, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies and efficient patient workflow.
  8. Ensure compliance with protocols established by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), American College of Cardiology (ACC), and applicable clinical practice guidelines.
  9. Participate in quality assurance, peer review, accreditation activities, protocol development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  10. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient encounters, imaging interpretations, and clinical recommendations.
  11. Communicate significant or urgent findings promptly to referring providers in accordance with facility policies.
  12. Maintain all required medical licenses, certifications, registrations, and professional credentials.
  13. Perform other duties within the scope of licensure and clinical privileges as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Disease fellowship.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease (ABIM) or equivalent.
  • Active, unrestricted New Jersey medical license.
  • Current BLS and ACLS cer
