About this role

Responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing exterior and interior of College structures on all campuses. Pressures cleaning buildings and walkways, furniture refinishing, and constructing and repairing various surfaces.

What a day of a Painter I looks like:

• Follows established safety practices.

• Paints and/or finishes college buildings both interior and exterior, also refinishes furniture and equipment as required.

• Pressure cleans college buildings and walkways.

• Inspects equipment and machinery for safe operation. Reports any observed problems to supervisor.

• Patches and plasters walls and install fire extinguisher as required.

• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations.

• Transports materials and equipment to, from and within storage areas and operating areas.

• Constructs erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to applicable building codes, for campus or college.

• Washes related equipment and/or vehicles used within the scope of the job as needed.

• Performs preventive maintenance on college vehicles such as checking battery and radiator fluid levels restoring water or other fluid when necessary.

• Routinely operates vehicles including moving van and bucket truck in performing job duties.

• Maintains and perform in a safe workplace.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of four years related experience.

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License

• Regular physical attendance required

Preferred, but not a must:

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or G.E.D.

• Commercial interior/exterior experience waterproofing.

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

• Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing  20 to 49 pounds.

• Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.

• Reach and grasp objects.

• Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Stand for extended periods of time.

• Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skill.

• Communicate information orally and in writing.

• Receive and understand information through oral and written communication.

• Proofread and check documents for accuracy.

• Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury.

• Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level and other conditions.

• Operate a motor vehicle.

The minimum base pay for this position is $17.47 per hour; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
