The Advanced Production & Automation team within the office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is seeking a Sr. Manager, Advanced Production & Automation - Production System Technology Programs to lead the Production System Technology Programs team in Seattle, WA or Charleston, SC. This position seeks to identify, scope and execute enterprise-impactful, positively disruptive Production System Technologies and demonstrations. This position will deliver value through relevant scale integrated manufacturing maturity demonstrations in collaboration with product development teams and functions across the Boeing enterprise and industry.

Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a highly collaborative, dynamic environment while leading through influence across functional and organizational boundaries to drive mutual value.

You’ll own the process for project identification, scoping, shaping, funding authorization, project management & execution in collaboration with a skilled team of technical experts and senior leaders in concert with program and product development programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop teams of geographically dispersed management and non-management direct reports engaged in the development and execution of enterprise impactful production system technology demonstrations

  • Provide strategic leadership for project shaping, budget prioritization and capture of investment portfolio funds on technologies relevant to production system technology advancements

  • Lead the development of Advanced Production and Automation enterprise technology roadmaps in collaboration with Enterprise Technology Strategy, production leaders and industry partners.

  • Pursue and capture IR&D, CRAD, Offload and consortia funding to advance strategic objectives in production system advancement

  • Strong project management skills with focus on key metrics and responsible financial and timeline management.

  • Work with a positive sense of urgency while maintaining an inclusive and collaborative team environment

  • Align development projects with program customers to ensure demonstrated value aligns to programmatic technology insertion requirements, and timelines while correlated to Strategic Capability Needs (SCNs)

  • Manage a portfolio of projects, technology and people while establishing systematic approaches to provide visibility to project scope, project value, financial execution and demonstrated value to the enterprise

  • Leverage and grow a network of external partner companies to co-develop relevant technologies in the interest of accelerating value, technology transition and scalability across the company

  • Support relationships, relationship building, project scoping, and capture of opportunities with Consortia, DoD, Universities aligned with enterprise strategy and/or creating the strategy when needed

  • Pursuit and value building of existing global partnerships. Leverage the Boeing Global Technology research and innovation sites to foster and expand relationships of mutual value to Boeing’s mission in future Commercial and Defense products.

  • Ensures proactive management of schedules, metrics and risks through mature start-right approaches and program management practices

  • Forecasts space, capital, and personnel development needs

  • Travel 25-50% of the time

  • Strategic leadership and project demonstrations of Digitally Enabled Production System concepts, Digital Factory Ecosystem, Large Scale Production System data visualization, Immersive technologies, Production System Architecture, Production System Modeling & Simulation and analysis, integrated automation solutions in fabrication, assembly & paint, metrology-assisted assembly, non-destructive inspection and imaging, CNC Machining enhancements, high rate composite fabrication technologies, tooling and equipment advancements, advanced work instructions and training.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working as a technical program manager

  • 5+ years of experience working with manufacturing, materials and assembly processes

  • 5+ years of experience working with external customers, and cross-functional value stream stakeholders to resolve complex issues

  • 3+ years of experience developing/implementing strategic plans, delivering on commitments and results

  • 3+ years of leading engineering teams
