Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services or designee, provides consultative and direct behavioral services primarily to students receiving special education services, including those with autism spectrum disorders and emotional disabilities. The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supports the development and implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions, ensures compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and builds staff capacity to effectively implement behavior supports. Services in general education settings may be provided when aligned to support students with identified needs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

• Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) in accordance with the IDEA and state regulations.
• Develops, implements, and monitors Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
• Ensures behavioral components of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including FBAs, BIPs, and Special Circumstances Instructional Assistance (SCIA), are aligned with student needs, supported by data, and implemented in compliance with legal requirements.
• Provides direct and consultative behavioral support for students with significant behavioral needs.
• Leads the assessment, development, and ongoing evaluation of SCIAs, including determining appropriate levels of support and monitoring effectiveness over time.
• Provides guidance to IEP teams and administrators regarding behavioral supports, supplementary aids and services, staffing considerations, and the gradual reduction of intensive supports based on data.
• Develops and oversees data collection systems for behavioral and instructional interventions.
• Analyzes student and program-level data to evaluate effectiveness, guide decision-making, and ensure timely adjustments to supports.
• Monitors fidelity of implementation of behavior plans and evidence-based practices across classrooms and programs.
• Designs and delivers professional learning on behavior assessment, intervention strategies, de-escalation, and ABA practices.
• Provides ongoing coaching, modeling, and performance feedback to teachers and support staff.
• Trains and supports Behavior Intervention Assistants (BIAs), one-to-one (1:1) paraeducators, and other staff to ensure consistent and accurate implementation of BIPs.
• As applicable, supervises and supports staff pursuing or holding Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification in alignment with Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requirements.
• Supports the development of district systems for behavioral staff training, supervision, and credentialing.
• Supports the development and continuous improvement of special education programs serving students with behavioral needs.
• Collaborates with administrators, school psychologists, counselors, and related service providers to ensure coordinated and effective services.
• Participates in IEP meetings to provide expertise in behavioral assessment and intervention.
• Provides guidance and resources to families to support consistency between school and home.
• Provides guidance to site teams in the development and implementation of proactive and reactive strategies for behavioral crises.
• Ensures compliance with district policies and state regulations related to crisis intervention, including restraint and emergency procedures.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including assessment results, progress monitoring data, and service records.
• Adheres to professional and ethical standards established by the BACB.
• Provides services across multiple sites and manages priorities to ensure timely and effective support.
• Maintains confidentiality in accordance with federal, state, and district requirements.
• Attends meetings and trainings required by the district.
• Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
